The Before & After Program will be available from 7 am to 6 pm on Wednesday, May 25/11 and Thursday May 26/11 during the teacher’s strike. The cost is the same as on a full-day ($25.00/day). New registrations are welcome.

2011 BASP Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting for the 2010/11 year for the Before & After School Program will be held on May 18, 2011 @ 6:00 at the school. Child care will be provided.

It is very important to attend this meeting as the program is dependent on parent involvement. There will be positions opening up on the Parent Council and we need families to show that they care how this program is run.

2010 Income Tax Receipts

The Wilfrid Walker Before & After Program is an eligible child care program to Revenue Canada. Receipts for your payments for the 2010 year will be available on Monday, Feb 28. You can pick up your receipt at the program.

Welcome Back Everyone!

We are so pleased that you have chosen the Wilfrid Walker Before & After School Program (WWBASP) to care for your children. This year will be an exciting adventure for both the children and the Council that volunteers their time to run this program for you.

Council wants you to know that your child’s safety is our first priority, and running a smooth program is one way that your children stay safe. Over the summer months, a couple of changes have occurred that we wanted you to be made aware of.

Ana-Maria, who accepted the position as our 2010/11 Program Coordinator resigned her post to start a teaching career, and will be unable to fulfill the role as coordinator. We were sad to see her leave, but wish her the best of luck in her teaching career.

A senior leader, Jessica, has also decided to leave the program because of another job. Luckily, familiar faces are in the crowd, and Jocelyn and Alana will be returning to the program this fall.
We have also hired 3 new staff: Taryn, Keatyn, and Chelsea have been hired as leaders. Please introduce yourselves to them.

We want you to know that at the start of the year, we will have growing pains, but that the BASP Council will be as diligent as possible to make the program runs as smoothly as possible without any disruption. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact Duane Banman, Council Chair at 536-2026.

Please make sure to stop and complete a new registration form for your children by the end of the week. We need to make sure that all of your information is up to date.

The Council also wants to inform you that there will be an information meeting on Tuesday, November 2 at 5:30 pm. We would like to encourage you to participate in these meetings. This year, with the lack of coordinator, the program is attempting to be parent-led. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Duane or Lisa if you would like to help out as little or as much as possible.

4. Business Arising from the Minutes

Fee Increase/Minimum Fee to retain spot
It has been decided that a minimum fee to retain a spot in the WWBASP would be beneficial to the program, yet reasonable to parents.
Starting in November, parents will have to pay $30.00 dollars each month to reserve a spot for their child. However, if they use the program regularly, this amount will automatically be counted towards their payment.
This is the price of a full-day plus one morning, which most parents use at least once per month.

Student/Team Leader Ratio
As the attendance is growing in the program, this is less of a threat.
Six students to one leader is the policy, and this will be monitored as the year progresses to assess how many leaders need to be on duty per shift.

A strong start to the year with registration rates growing fast.
Adding three new staff members to our WWBASP crew: Jolene Solypa, Jocelyn Hval, and Alana Cowan.
Location change as being a positive and convenient experience for staff and parents.

Welcome to the Wilfrid Walker Before and After School Program site!! Here you will get a chance to meet the staff, keep up to date on the activities and ask any questions you like!

The WWBASP operates Monday-Friday 7:00am-8:45am and 3:30pm-6:00pm.

Students from all grades at Wilfrid Walker School are welcome to become a part of the WWBASP family!

The WWBASP provides care for students of the Wilfrid Walker School. We help children with homework and provide them with a variety of activities from art projects to gym games and sports, as well as puzzles, reading and group activities. If you would like to know more, don’t hesitate to ask!
